Different Paths into Electronics Manufacturing
There is no single way to begin a career in PCB assembly. One Caltronics employee discovered electronics through a vocational college and earned a diploma in occupational proficiency in electronics engineering. Another entered the industry through a temporary position after college, learned on the job, and eventually advanced into a second-shift supervisory role.
Their experiences show that careers supporting PCBA assembly services can begin through technical education or hands-on training. Curiosity, dependability, and a willingness to keep learning can create opportunities for long-term growth.
Protecting Quality Through Precision
One employee works as a final inspector, reviewing completed circuit boards and assemblies before they reach customers. She also performs touch-up work and rework when needed. Her approach is straightforward: “I won’t send out a product that I would not want to buy myself.”
Another employee protects quality by reviewing work instructions, having her first board checked, and inspecting both her own work and the previous production step. This attention to detail is essential for any dependable PCB assembly company.
The work also requires more than soldering. Assemblers may use board preheaters, heat guns, selective solder machines, depaneling equipment, press-fit pins, and wiring. These detailed processes, and the people who perform them, are central to reliable PCBA assembly services.

Both women described career moments that made them proud. One advanced from assembly and rework into final inspection after consistently identifying issues that needed correction. The other volunteered to operate additional equipment, learning to run selective solder and depaneling machines while also supporting inspection.
Their advice to other women is to remain confident, ask questions, and view mistakes as opportunities to learn. One employee was motivated to enter a traditionally male-dominated field to prove herself through her technical skills. The other advised: “Don’t take mistakes as a negative. Take them as lessons.”
